What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural and normal state of the mind in which the body experiences a state of deep physical relaxation while the mind remains clear, alert and focused. In this altered state of awareness, the subconscious mind becomes open and suggestible. A person naturally enters this state many times during a normal day - just most of us are not aware that it is happening. How many times have you been thinking about something while driving your car and suddenly wondered how you arrived at the destination? Most of us go to the movies and get so caught up in the drama of the story we forget that we are only watching a movie. Most of us daydream from time to time. All of these are examples of a natural state of hypnosis.

How can I tell when I’m hypnotised?
It depends on the individual. Some people are more aware of changes felt in their bodies than others. It also depends on how deep into the hypnotic state the person has allowed himself to drift. You may experience sensations of feeling very light or floating, very heavy, tingling sensations, dry mouth or just pleasantly relaxed.

What does it feel like to be hypnotised? - Does it feel good?
It feels great! Most people will experience different bodily sensations ranging from a dry mouth, limbs feeling very heavy or light, or tingling sensations. Most people feel wonderfully relaxed and enjoy the hypnotic state very much. After a course of therapy, many people feel invigorated, more confident and enthusiastic about their new outlook on things. It's very common too, for people to feel a great deal of relief in getting over the issue which had been causing such anxiety, often for many years.

Can anyone be hypnotised?
Most people can be hypnotised. The better one is able to concentrate and focus, the easier it is for them to be hypnotised. Above all, the person must be willing. No one can hypnotise you if you don't want to be hypnotised. Your natural defences in your mind will prevent this from happening.

How does the hypnotist put someone into hypnosis?
All hypnosis is self-hypnosis, and the power comes from within the mind of the person being hypnotised. The hypnotist is merely the guide who directs and leads the person into the hypnotic state. The hypnotist induces the hypnotic trance by using certain words and phrases the subconscious mind understands, as well as using various techniques like deep breathing, imagery and tone of voice.

Is hypnosis dangerous?

No, hypnosis is not dangerous. It is just a natural state of the mind utilized by the hypnotherapist to help the individual make positive changes, change certain habits or pattern of behaviour. The mind has natural defences built in which will automatically reject any suggestions it deems harmful.

Will I lose control when I'm under hypnosis?
No, you will not lose control while you are in hypnosis. You are fully conscious and very aware of what is being suggested. You are always in control. The mind will reject any undesired suggestions automatically.

Can hypnotherapy help me?
Hypnotherapy can be used to make positive changes in your life. Some examples are: stop smoking; lose weight; improve self-esteem and confidence; change unwanted habits or behaviours. It can help to resolve fears and phobias, and the list goes on.

I've tried countless diets, but still can't lose weight or keep it off. Can hypnotherapy help me?
Hypnotherapy and other energy therapies for weight control is geared towards finding the reason why a person is repeatedly feeling the need to overeat - whether it be 'comfort' eating, or eating due to stress.

How can therapy help Irritable Bowel Syndrome?
National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommends hypnotherapy as a psychological intervention as being effective in the management of IBS symptoms. I have been trained in the recommended protocol for treating IBS via hypnotherapy and also suggest EFT and other energy therapies could help relieve symptoms or ease the condition considerably to stop symptoms.

Will I remember the session?
Another misconception is that you won't be able to remember anything that went on in the session. The truth is that you will be able to remember most of it. Any portions not remembered, will be where your mind has drifted off to some distant thought or memory.

Picture Tapping Therapy (PTT)

What is Picture Tapping Technique (PTT)?
PTT is a therapeutic intervention technique that might be thought of as a mixture between Art Therapy and Meridian Tapping Techniques.

What is PTT suitable for?
PTT can be used on a very wide range of issues. It is particularly useful on global issues such as non-specific anxiety and low self-esteem. However, it can be used on just about anything that you have an emotion about.

Is PTT safe?
Yes it is. PTT is perfectly safe and gentle.

Can PTT be used with children?
Yes, children often love using PTT. It is less intrusive than traditional ‘talk therapy’ techniques because the children do not have to verbalise their issues. They don’t even have to think about them.

Matrix Reimprinting

What is Matrix Reimprinting?
Matrix Reimprinting is a meridian tapping energy therapy. Created by EFT Master Karl Dawson, this technique has far reaching positive effects for a whole host of physical and emotional issues.

How does Matrix Reimprinting differ from conventional EFT?
In conventional EFT tapping is used on points of the meridian system throughout the body. Tapping on these points whilst verbally tuning into a specific traumatic memory, releases the stress of the memory from the body’s energy system. With Matrix Reimprinting we take this to a whole new level and actually transform the memory. You can go back to any negative memory, say and do the things you wished you’d said and done, bring in new resources and other people to support you. And when you couple this with the tapping points used in EFT, the results are extremely fast and effective.

What are the benefits of Matrix Reimprinting?
Matrix Reimprinting: • Is quick and easy to use • Is fun and creative • Enables you to get to the root of core issue and transform them • Enables you to get to blocked memories • Quickly resolves trauma • Transforms negative core-beliefs

Does Matrix Reimprinting work alongside other therapies?
Matrix Reimprinting works very effectively as a stand-alone therapy. It can also be incorporated into any other therapeutic practice, including EFT, Hypnotherapy, Counselling, Psychotherapy and so on.

What kind of issues can Matrix Reimprinting help with?
Matrix Reimprinting can help with a whole range of issues, from physical issues and diseased conditions, to emotional and psychological issues. (Although, please note, if you have a mental health issue, please seek a practitioner who is qualified to work with your condition).
